Jake's Book Covers 

Jake's Book Covers is an eclectic gallery of photo illustrations and photographs crafted by yours truly,  R. Jake Wood, with a few (sometimes quite a number, actually) words here 'n' there about the making of the images or a discourse on places visited.  While not really a dare, this thing exists because of a question posed a few years ago: "Why don't you put your pictures up on a website?"   Strange to think, that was actually before nearly everyone had photos on-line somewhere.  Huh.

Note: while the book cover illustrations get updated as those projects proceed (making Jake's Book Covers more true to its original intent and name), the photographic content has been kinda' left behind, with publishing here supplanted by posting on other sites.  That means, though, since I've not paid as much attention to the non-book cover images, that the photo pages may be a little out-of-date, and I'm reassessing and re-writing as needed to streamline a bit.  If I'm good, I get all the links right; if I forget something, you may very well find some hiccups, say sorry.

Jake.

What began as a one-of cover became a saga about people on the move, looking for a home after rising sea levels cover their farm fields.  Karen Bergeron's Aubrey Emmberrg in a series that's nowhere near the Human Unity, and has gone on to be a pretty lengthy

endeavor.

For some reason, lost to me now, I had the idea of a woman keeping company with a man -- whose consciousness just happens to be ensconced in a robot body.  The notion became a series of graphic novel covers, The Adventures of Moira and Steve (the Robotman).

What had been only a "thought experiment" for some months become (digital) reality: the team-up of Eddie Darwin and Etienne Fontannelle.

The first five titles by co-authors Fisher and Bergeron concern confronting a political machine in the Great Human Unity; further exploits will come eventually.

Fontannelle's series also continues in a series of graphic novels appended to that series' page.

Major Christi Tannager makes her debut in the Combat Air Patrol series of novels, set in the turbulent years following World War Two, and considering the personal turbulence of a combat veteran.

She was first seen on the cover of  Inter-Galactic, and as noted there, is now flying on her own!

The Detective Anne Listrom series continues with a quartet of novels where-in some of the many bridges in Pittsburgh, PA, figure in the developing stories.  

The end of 2017 saw the beginning of this series concerning the police work and life of  Listrom, a suspense series set in "Iron City,"  'cause I have photos of the 'burgh, and why not?  I like suspense novels.  

The first three, the "money trilogy" cover three different cases.  The second, or "neighborhood trilogy" follows one storyline, but the titles and locations derive from various locations around the city.

Plus - an on-going monthly publication of "magazine covers."  Inter-Galactic follows along to the ideas of the old "pulp" science and fantasy periodicals that used to take up our leisure hours before TV and internet streaming took over. 

I've been keeping this up since December of 2016; will I keep going?  Who knows?!  I'm still working on them, so we'll see!

         New photographs will mostly be on the 'blogs, more-so than here, in future.  Illustrations will likely be on both, with links between.

           And  After Dreiser, where I've illustrated and written about following the "Original Road Trip" of  1915.  I've also used this platform for some essays concerning other things historical.
