ON LOCATION: behind Ms. Keegan on the front cover is part of a complex of buildings that once was home to the Pittsburgh Brewing Company, makers of Iron City Beer (which I'll happily confess was one of my favorites when I was living in the 'burgh). Due to financial difficulties, the Brewing Co had to decamp from their home of over 100 years, and the complex still stands empty and growing weeds.
In April of 2010, what had been the shipping warehouse was the venue for the 13th Annual Art All Night, a 24 hour exposition of Pittsburgh artists; the grounds were also open, and you better believe I availed myself of the opportunity to get an up-close look - and camera view - of the old brick buildings.
The two "postcards" on the back cover on the right hand side are also from photos taken at the Brewing Co. The one to the left with the steel structure exposed was taken at what had been the American Bridge Company's manufactury, in Ambridge, PA.
